“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ― Plato

I love all kinds of music: worship music, rock, county, folk, jazz, blues... Music is a universal language that truly speaks to my soul. For me, music has kept me company on car rides and during the workday. Music has an inexplicable power to stir my emotions, evoke memories, and can carry me to different places. In fact, a life without music would be terribly boring and quite hard to fathom.
When a song I like comes on, I listen to the melody. The melody weaves its way through my ears, it dances with my heartbeat, creating a symphony within my spirit. The rhythmic pulse resonates, and much to my friends’ chagrin I have been known to break into a spontaneous dance from time to time.
Harmonies wrap around my thoughts, like a warm familiar hug on a chilly day. And the lyrics—oh my, the lyrics! They can be like whispered shared secrets. Whether the artists sings a story of love, loss, or resilience, it always finds a home in my heart.
Sometimes, music can be a time machine, taking me back to moments I thought were lost forever. A few notes, and suddenly I am reliving a memory: that road trip with friends, a special event, or that tearful goodbye.
I saw my favorite band, The White Buffalo, in concert and I was in awe the entire time. Getting close enough to see the passion, energy, and yes, the sweat, that goes into making this show a success was simply amazing. I walked away with a deeper appreciation for what musicians do. It takes a lot of soul, energy, dedication, and commitment. If you rarely see live music, it is easy to forget how much work goes into creating that music and performing.
The White Buffalo concert was just what the doctor ordered. Their music taps into a certain part of me than needs to be awakened every once in a while And when something connects me with the universe, how can it not be meaningful? Music can change the world because it can change people.
So, let music move you. Let it be your companion during lonely nights, your celebration during joyous days, and your solace when life just feels heavy.
And remember, whether it’s a melody or an upbeat anthem, music connects us all—across time, space, and every beat of our existence.
